Management of Sustainability
Mirvac has placed significant focus on formalising the management of sustainability across the Group. In-house sustainability expertise has been significantly boosted through the appointment of a Group Sustainability Manager and Projects Coordinator.
The functions of the Group Sustainability Committee are:
- To actively promote and encourage a culture of sustainability.
- To participate in the review and update of the Mirvac Sustainability Strategy including identifying new sustainability opportunities.
- To report progress against the Mirvac Sustainability Strategy.
- To review and develop recommendations to management to assist it in formulating and adopting policies, programs and practices concerning sustainability issues.
- To identify and consider relevant emerging sustainability related strategic issues including applicable legal and regulatory requirements, emerging issues, trends and technologies.
- To provide a conduit between the Mirvac business areas on issues and initiatives relating to sustainability at Mirvac.
- To identify and contribute items for inclusion in internal and external sustainability communications materials.
- To oversee the implementation of the Sustainability@Work program.
- To organise local sustainability related tours and information sessions.
- To report on sustainability performance of all local activities.
- To review and recommend changes to this Charter as necessary.
Membership of the Group Sustainability Committee has been expanded with a representative membership structure of senior staff. A Group Sustainability Committee Charter has been adopted, to formalise the committee membership and functions. The membership and function of State Sustainability Committees has also been reviewed with increased responsibility for tracking the sustainability performance of all projects and identification of issues or opportunities for consideration at the Group Sustainability Committee level.
