Broadway secured its number 1 title thanks to a MAT/m2 figure of $14,477m2, an impressive 4.9% increase from last year. The results follow the centre’s $55 million redevelopment of level 2, completed in August last year.
Broadway has also improved its Top 10 position for specialty MAT/m2 moving from number 8 to 5, increasing by 5.3% to $13,665/m2.
Mirvac Head of Retail, Susan MacDonald, commented, “It’s been an exciting and busy year for Broadway Sydney and winning the SCN Big Guns Award for the fifth year in a row is a great achievement for the team. The centre is thriving thanks to what has been a carefully considered tenancy overhaul – securing 32 new in-demand retailers, including both international drawcards such as H&M alongside popular domestic brands. The idea with Broadway was to create a modernised fusion of fashion and food and provide our customers with an urban lifestyle destination that ticks more boxes than ‘just shopping.’
“Over the past few years we have been doing things differently, creating value across our existing assets and working with new retailers across the portfolio. Despite development works in the centre for the best part of last year, the significantly improved retail mix paired with an increased focus on customer experience has seen ongoing support from the community and this win is testament to that.”
