Major International Art Festival, The 24th Biennale of Sydney, Ten Thousand Suns, Now Open

11th March 2024

As proud principal partner, Mirvac is honoured to have been part of the exciting journey leading up to the launch of the 24th Biennale of Sydney, titled Ten Thousand Suns, which is now open to the public.

Artworks by 96 artists and collectives, alongside a dynamic public program, will be presented across Sydney from 9 March to 10 June 2024.

A major international art festival and the largest contemporary art event of its kind in Australia, the 24th Biennale of Sydney is presented at Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artspace, Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney Opera House, UNSW Galleries and at the iconic and recently restored White Bay Power Station, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in over 100 years.

Three previews in the lead up to the launch captivated some of Mirvac’s customers from across our Residential, Office and Retail businesses.

Barbara Moore, Biennale of Sydney CEO, took to the stage to thank all who contributed to making this bold vision come to life, including the Australian Government, NSW Government, City of Sydney, Foundation Cartier, Neilson Foundation, Feel New Sydney, and Mirvac.

"We’re delighted to throw open the doors to the 24th Biennale of Sydney and invite everyone to come and experience the incredible contemporary art. Entry to the exhibition is free, and all are welcome, inviting you to immerse yourself in the boundless creativity that transcends borders. This Biennale promises not only the most dynamic contemporary art from around the globe, but also a rich tapestry of music, food, talks, tours, and performances. The Biennale of Sydney awaits, ready to ignite your senses and kindle the spirit of artistic exploration,” said Ms Moore.

Mirvac’s Group CEO, Campbell Hanan, said: "Both the Biennale of Sydney and Mirvac are renowned for their innovative approaches to reimagining public and urban spaces.

Together, we are committed to delivering groundbreaking arts and cultural experiences and urban activations that will enrich and inspire our community, within this ever-evolving cityscape. As we launch the 24th edition of the Biennale of Sydney, Ten Thousand Suns, we look forward to shining a bright light on the future through this collaboration."

Throughout the three-month exhibition there will be daily art tours, plus dedicated student workshops, three family days curated by disability arts organisations and practitioners, and regular Wednesday evening contemporary music nights curated by Phoenix Central Park that are ticketed through a ballot system.
