Mirvac and co-owner Suntec Real Estate Investment Trust have today announced the topping out and completion of the main structural works at Olderfleet, Mirvac’s premium office building at 477 Collins Street, Melbourne.
The Grimshaw-designed, 38-level building consists of 58,000sqm premium-grade office and retail space, and has topped out on time, ahead of practical completion expected in mid-2020.
Mirvac’s General Manager, Development, Simon Healy, said, “This milestone marks another achievement for Olderfleet, which has seen strong interest from our tenants with a range of high calibre brands pre-committed, bringing the tower to 94% leased.”

The remaining lettable space at the building includes the entire Skyrise floor on level 34, which is made up of 1,700sqm of light-filled office space with spectacular city views. Incoming businesses will join a first-class line up of brands already committed, including Norton Rose Fulbright, Lander & Rogers, Urbis and anchor tenant Deloitte.

Today Mirvac and its consortium partners, AMP Capital, Sunsuper and Centuria Property Funds, celebrate the official opening of the first two buildings completed at Sydney’s revitalised technology and innovation hub, South Eveleigh.
The precinct will be home to Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s 10,000 workers who have begun moving into their new workplace this week with the opening of the first building, Axle. The second complete building, Yerrabingin House, has a community centre, gym, childcare and the Australian-first Indigenous rooftop farm.
The opening of the buildings is a significant milestone in the development of the South Eveleigh precinct, which is on track to be complete by 2020 and will be home to 18,000 workers.
The launch event was attended by Mirvac’s CEO & Managing Director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz; Commonwealth Bank of Australia Chief Executive Officer, Matt Comyn; AMP Capital Global Head of Real Estate, Carmel Hourigan; Sunsuper Head of Private Markets, Michael Weaver; Centuria Property Funds Head of Real Estate and Funds Management, Jason Huljich; and the precinct’s key partners and stakeholders.

The architects for Axle were the award-winning architects Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (FJMT) to deliver best-in-class design excellence, technology, sustainability and placemaking principles.

Once complete South Eveleigh will consist of nine commercial buildings surrounded by shared public spaces with a diverse mix of retailers including a supermarket, hairdresser, gym and al fresco cafes to activate the precinct in the evenings and on the weekends. A range of public artworks by local artists will also enliven the precinct and celebrate the history and heritage of the site. Mirvac engaged Carriageworks to curate the artworks, which will be progressively installed up until 2020.
South Eveleigh is progressing on schedule with construction set to start on the refurbishment of the Locomotive Workshops this month. Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s second workplace building, The Foundry, will be complete in mid-2020.
The Axle building is a 6 Star Green Star building, and has a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating. Yerrabingin House is a 6 Star Green Star building and has an extensive solar system which has allowed it to be a carbon neutral building.
Premium logistics hub Calibre opens in Western Sydney

Mirvac has today celebrated the official opening of its premium logistics hub Calibre, in Eastern Creek. The strategically located industrial precinct delivers high-quality built form and employment outcomes for Western Sydney and sets a new benchmark for industrial and warehouse facilities in Australia.
The Treasurer of New South Wales, The Hon. Dominic Perrottet MP officiated at the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon, alongside Mirvac CEO & Managing Director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz. Calibre’s thriving business community, together with the Mirvac team and project partners, turned out to celebrate the exciting milestone.
Calibre’s 22-hectare site includes a mix of flexible warehousing, A-grade office space and advanced specifications with 110,000sqm of floor space across five buildings. Ideally placed to cater to logistics, warehousing and manufacturing companies, Mirvac secured premium brands CEVA Logistics, Miele, Pet Circle, Sheldon & Hammond and ACFS e-Solutions at Calibre, with the Estate 100 per cent leased ahead of its practical completion.

Mirvac Group said approximately 450 construction jobs were generated during the development phase with 480 permanent jobs resulting.

The site is perfectly positioned as a distribution hub for the eastern seaboard with excellent transport links at the interchange of the M4 and M7 motorways, and under an hour drive to the Sydney CBD, Port Botany and the new Western Sydney International airport.
Calibre has been built for ultimate flexibility with service provisions in two of the warehouses for a second office component allowing for split tenancies. It’s also equipped to accommodate a range of uses, with a nine tonne racking post load internal slab with armoured joints to support future automation requirements, generous space for loading and a 20 metre cantilevered awning system across the length of the loading face for the majority of the buildings.

In August 2018, Mirvac sold a 50 per cent stake in the Calibre Estate to the Mirvac Industrial Logistics Partnership (MILP) a partnership between Mirvac and an investment vehicle sponsored by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing.

Today, Mirvac Group and cultural start-up Yerrabingin officially opened Australia’s first Indigenous urban food production farm, located on the rooftop of Building 3 at South Eveleigh, Mirvac’s new technology and innovation hub (formally known as Australian Technology Park).

The completion of the joint cultural venture was marked by a celebratory event, attended by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC; Costa Georgiadis, The ABC’s Gardening Australia host; Yerrabingin founders Clarence Slockee and Christian Hampson; special guests from anchor tenant Commonwealth Bank of Australia; Mirvac and its consortium partners AMP Capital, Sunsuper and Centuria Property Funds; as well as community and Indigenous members.
The farm brings to life Mirvac and Yerrabingin’s vision to celebrate South Eveleigh’s rich Aboriginal culture and heritage, through an engaging and educational experience. Workers, visitors and the local community will be encouraged to participate in the planned workshops to learn about Indigenous culture, native plants and tend to the farm. They also have the opportunity to purchase produce from the farm with over 30 native bush foods to choose from including finger limes, warrigal greens, native raspberries and sea celery.
Yerrabingin co-founder, Christian Hampson said, “We are excited to open Australia’s first Indigenous rooftop farm, to celebrate and promote Aboriginal permaculture. This is a significant step forward in embedding reconciliation into placemaking while harnessing the potential of Aboriginal social enterprise. The development industry can often be concerned about ‘overstepping protocol’ so it has been inspiring to work with Mirvac who have set an example for the industry in how to respectively incorporate Aboriginal culture and heritage.”
Mirvac Project Director, William Walker said, “With the transformation of South Eveleigh into a state-of-the-art work and lifestyle destination it was vital to Mirvac that we paid careful consideration to the site’s important Indigenous heritage and significance. By working with Yerrabingin we were able to co-create an experience at the precinct that will engage and connect the public to Aboriginal storytelling, while educating them on the history of the site.
“Successful precincts around the world deliver diverse offerings and experiences so all people feel welcome. The indigenous farm is a key part of our activation strategy for the precinct that will foster an inclusive community for visitors, local residents and workers.”
The farm will be self-funded through the delivery of 16 events per month for visitors and South Eveleigh’s 18,000 workers and residents. Yerrabingin will manage workshops, events and tours that focus on native permaculture, environmental sustainability, physical and mental health.
Yerrabingin are also working to establish the South Eveleigh Aboriginal Cultural Landscape Garden, which will grow native and medicinal plant species and bush food.
The Indigenous rooftop farm on Building 3 of the precinct is part of Mirvac’s $1 billion transformation of South Eveleigh, set for completion in 2020. The farm is one element of a wide range of engaging and educational experiences at the precinct including tours of the garden and storytelling, focused on celebrating and remembering Aboriginal culture.
South Eveleigh has been co-created by Mirvac, anchor tenant Commonwealth Bank, and consortium partners, AMP Capital, Sunsuper and Centuria Property Funds.
Mirvac Opens New Dining Destination at Riverside Quay

Mirvac is pleased to announce the completion of the new retail and dining precinct at Riverside Quay, Melbourne.
The recently opened culinary quarter presents 10 new eateries peppered throughout the ground plane of Riverside Quay’s four commercial buildings. Together with the existing Southbank Promenade restaurants, the new retailers will create an enhanced, vibrant food and beverage offering, emulating the ambience and buzz of Melbourne’s famous laneways.
Riverside Quay now offers a mix of grab-and-go, casual dining and lunch options, as well as restaurants to suit all tastes. A range of international cuisines and cult brands including Jiaozi by Shanghai Street Dumplings, Old Man Pho, Infinite Wasabi, Thailander, Poked, Dagwood Deli, Workshop Brothers, 30ml Coffee and D.O.C. (opening early 2019), make up the all-star line-up.
Anchoring the new food hub is San Telmo’s, newly opened Asado Bar and Grill, which features meat cooked over a grill and wood fire, but with an Argentinian twist.

Working closely with the City of Melbourne and the local community, Mirvac has delivered a public park at Riverside Quay.
“The park is the perfect extension of the new food and dining district, creating an engaging space for the hundreds of workers, residents and visitors that pass through the area each day. We’ve already seen a huge increase in foot traffic at Riverside Quay and have received extremely positive feedback from the community on the renewed spaces,” added Andrew.

Sydney’s Australian Technology Park reached construction milestone

The companies behind the Australian Technology Park redevelopment in Redfern have celebrated the topping out of the first of three buildings that will make up the $1 billion project.
Mirvac and its fellow with consortium members AMP Capital, Sunsuper and Centuria Property Funds completed main structural works with the nine-storey “building 1” set to be finalised by 2019.
Building 1, designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, comprises 42,500sq m of commercial space, boasting the largest office floor plates in the country at 5500-8600sq m.
Mirvac managing director Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said that the topping out had occurred ahead of schedule.
“[The topping out] underlines the significant progress that has been achieved in the past 12 months since construction began,” Hurwitz said.
Mirvac partnered with Commonwealth Bank to develop the original tender for the site, with the big four bank occupying 94,000sq m across three buildings. The bank has signed a 15-year lease for at least 10,000 of its employees.
Commonwealth Bank Group Property and Security executive general manager Jennifer Saiz said the goal at was to create Australia’s “pre-eminent innovation district”.
“The important thing for us is that this is a vibrant place, not only for our 10,000 employees and the precinct’s other businesses but also for our surrounding communities, to live, work, learn, experience and create in.”
The ATP’s first building will soon be accompanied by two other structures, a four-storey multi-purpose building and the other a seven-storey commercial office building.
The completed project will eventually cater to 18,000 workers when it reaches completion in 2020, featuring cafes, a supermarket, sporting facilities and public spaces.
The precinct will provide more than 700 car spaces, as well as 600-plus secure bicycle spots across the three buildings.
The developers have also invested in initiatives such as Hoist, the “innovation and technology” co-working space on site, with a range of other collaborative opportunities being explored across research, employment, education and incubator spaces for local businesses.
Construction of the ATP’s second building is expected to top out in September this year, with the third and final building expected to top out mid-year 2019.
On Sunday 6 November, Mirvac opened the doors to its headquarters at EY Centre, 200 George Street, for the annual Sydney Open, an event aimed at celebrating the past, present and future of Sydney’s most architecturally inspiring buildings.
Sydney Open is run by Sydney Living Museums and is a chance for the public to explore our city’s unique architectural history. The event provides Sydneysiders and visitors the opportunity to enjoy behind the scenes access to some of the city’s most loved architecture, groundbreaking contemporary masterpieces and everything in between.
On 6 November, over 2,600 visitors walked through levels 28 and 29 of 200 George Street, Mirvac’s headquarters, exploring the innovative features and modern fit-out. Inside the building, visitors got to see the industry-leading façade, which gives the building its unique appearance.
Visitors were shown a range of ‘Smart Building’ initiatives, including the workplace layout and innovative fitout, which are designed to promote collaboration and interaction, with floor plate configuration that allows activity based working and improves the flow of people throughout the space.
In addition to EY Centre, Sydney Open ticket holders could tour through Arup Studios and Workshop, Australia Square, Sydney Town Hall, Fort Phillip Signal Station and Parliament House.

On Monday 22nd May, Mirvac and our major tenants, Pitcher Partners and ExxonMobil, celebrated a construction milestone with the Topping Off of 664 Collins Street, Melbourne.

Over the past 3 years, Mirvac has been working in partnership with Unwired Ventures, the producers of the annual global conference, WORKTECH. This year as a platinum sponsor Mirvac hosted a breakfast for 70 of our top clients and partners, featuring keynote speaker Dr Kristine Dery, Research Scientist from MIT Sloan and Philip Ross, CEO of Unwired Ventures, as well as Paul Edwards discussing his recently published paper on the ‘Intermix Approach’.
The breakfast explored themes such as overcoming the challenges around employee connectedness by unlocking the potential for responsive leadership in the digital sphere; removing bureaucratic silos within an organisation and using technology to engineer serendipity between colleagues in physical space; and how we can create a physical space that helps to facilitate the sharing of knowledge as people interact in less formal and more diverse ways.
The three discussion topics emphasized how a ‘set and forget’ approach to implementing technology within a workplace is dangerous to employee connectedness if it does not easily align to different requirements.
The following day at the conference, Paul addressed over 400 individuals from real estate, technology and innovation divisions, presenting his ideas on the future of the SMART precincts. With reference to Mirvac’s new development, ATP, Paul highlighted how this development will set a new precedent in base build technology and how this can add value to businesses and allow them to thrive in a new digital world.
2 Riverside Quay, Southbank – construction completion

On Friday 3rd March, 2017 we celebrated the end of construction of 2 Riverside Quay with over 100 guests on the beautiful sun-soaked rooftop terrace. Achieving practical completion two months ahead of schedule, 2 Riverside Quay is a testament to the exceptional hard work of the team and our partners. Mirvac worked in close collaboration with PwC to create a bespoke Head Quarters using innovative design and construction techniques to deliver 12-storeys of A-grade office space above an existing public car park.
The Melbourne city skyline provided the perfect backdrop for the celebration, with our event company curating a colourful, lively and vibrant space complete with a gelato cart from a local gelataria. Simon Healy, General Manager of Commercial Development, welcomed our guests and introduced three key speakers, Daryl Browning, CEO of ISPT; Karl Fender, Director of Fender Katsalidis Architects; and Peter Konidaris, Managing Partner of PwC.

The building will be one of Melbourne’s leading environmentally sustainable buildings, with a 5 star NABERS Energy rating and 5 star Green Star as built. Featuring striking architecture from Fender Katsalidis Architects, the building maximises the natural light exposure of the north facing outlook. The commissioned public art is a significant element of the public space and cleverly conceals the carpark at the base of the building.
