Mirvac Celebrates NAIDOC Week

4th July 2023

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. To acknowledge this, Mirvac will showcase Indigenous culture through a series of events and activities across our portfolio.

NAIDOC week

Throughout the week, we have organised several amazing events across our assets and offices, in collaboration with our communities. From captivating painting workshops with the talented Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-op to a mesmerising contemporary dance performance by the renowned Brolga Dance Academy, and a special morning tea at South Eveleigh, catered by Biri Biri Catering - owned by the respected Aboriginal elder, Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo. We will also be hosting a special panel event at our 200 George Street HQ featuring:

  • Kamilaroi man Corey Tutt, CEO of DeadlyScience, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing science resources and early reading material to remote schools in Australia. Corey has just authored a book called The First Scientists, Deadly Inventions and Innovations from Australia's First Peoples.
  • Rowena Welsh-Jarrett, Director of Cultural Heritage, Bila Group & Senior Heritage Officer and Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council. Rowena has been working closely with Mirvac’s Harbourside project team

While NAIDOC Week officially lasts for seven days, our commitment to acknowledging, respecting, and celebrating our Indigenous communities extends far beyond.

Join us in embracing the spirit of NAIDOC Week and celebrating the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Let's come together, learn, and appreciate the diverse cultures that make our society vibrant and inclusive. #ForOurElders #NAIDOC2023
